The condition of the tongue is a major criteria for Ayurvedic evaluation. Ama (metabolic waste) from the stomach and digestive tract collect on the back of the tongue, forming a white or yellowish coating. This happens especially during the night. It is said that while swallowing, ama can return to the stomach and intestines and needlessly tax the digestive tract and immune system, since it is seen by the body to be a foreign substance.

Regular cleaning of the tongue balances the three doshas Vata, Pitta and Kapha.

General instructions for use

Place the Tongue Cleaner on the back of the tongue and gently scrape forward 6-8 times, taking care not to use to much pressure or too many strokes.

Scrape the tongue each morning and evening before brushing and flossing.

When finished, rinse the Tongue Cleaner under the tap and allow to dry.
